From Our ParentsHe loves school. He wakes up excited to go every day. The community of students, parents, guides, and administration blow me away. There is something very special happening at River.
~Parent of a Kindergarten Student I was blown away to hear the way my son explained something he had learned during a day at River. As a teacher myself, it was clear that he was sharing with me something he had learned himself through discovery rather than something that was taught to him. It's a very different approach, but one that makes more sense than anything I've ever seen. He continues to be so proud of everything he's discovered. ~ Parent of a Third Year Student After experiencing a traditional public school for our child's kindergarten and first grad years, we wanted her to experince the positive, student-lead, education that only Montessori can provide. Montessori simply makes sense for kids, for parents, and for our society and the world at large. I see in my Montessori chlild all the facets of humanity that parents, teachers, and leaders want for our your people: Compassion, emotional intelligence, independence of thought and action, peace-mindedness, social responsibility, hands-on knowledge, and so much more! ~ Parent of a Second Year Student River has been instrumental in supporting our children in their early academic career. While both of our children have different strengths, we have found that the Guides at River are excellent in supporting their individual abilities and working with them to strengthen other areas as well. ~Parent of Second and Fourth Year Students Thank you, thank you for the most peaceful and happy school year ever. [My child] has just blossomed at River; her joy, her enthusiasm for learning, her excitement about school, real friendships, and a real sense of self-assurance about her. ~ Parent of a Third Year Student I remember reading the comments in my son's first report card that made me ask, "How does his teacher know him so well?" The River classroom environment allows the teacher to observe children in diverse settings. This enables the relationship between teacher and student to be far richer than anything I have ever witnessed. It's just brilliant. ~ Parent of a Third Year Student As a parent, I am deeply grateful that my child has a school that honors her spirit and singularity as much as her academic work. ~ Parent of a Fifth Year Student |
From Our StudentsAt RMCS you keep track of all your work and you organize your work in your binder and planner. You don't get special reminders of when things are due. You just finish your work... I love this school. ~ Fifth Year Student The teachers are awesome. They push you but not too much. ~ Fifth Year Student One thing I like about RMCS is the freedom of choice of work. This does not mean we can do anything we want. We still have to do work in any order or time. ~ Fourth Year Student Most Peaceful Place on Earth! ~ Sixth Year Student I like how we can choose when and what we work on during our three hour work time – which is something else I like about RMCS. ~ Fifth Year Student I love this school. ~ Fifth Year Student I have learned so much from River. It has been the best educational experience I have ever had. Thank you. ~ Fifth Year Student This School was and always will be my second home. I am so thankful for all of may amazing teachers. ~ Sixth Year Student River is the most supportive school. Everyone is happy and smiling. ~Sixth Year Student Montessori helped me to have better discipline in getting my work done. I have good time-management skills and I do not procrastinate with my studies. It was easy to make friends in middle and high school because of all the social practice with working together in the Montessori classroom. ~RMCS Alumni (2015) River Montessori was a peaceful and positive environment that allowed me the freedom to learn in a way that worked best for me. Because of that freedom, I have more interest and joy in my learning process, and more confidence in myself as a student and in everyday life. When faced with challenges, I know that there are many ways to look for solutions. Now, moving into my senior year in high school, I am a straight-A student and still approach my coursework for learning-sake, not just to get through. I have done my own research outside of assigned studies into the field of Marine Biology and hope to go to Duke University! ~ RMCS Alumni (2013) |
