Free & Public Montessori Junior & Senior High School

Dear Friends Interested in a Montessori Adolescent Program,

Our vision to open an adolescent program remains steadfast.  Our RMCS Jr./Sr. High team has done thorough and productive work toward our vision. You can see what they've been up to - as well as the many exciting things happening with Montessori adolescents around the world – in the articles cited below, Adolescent Resource Highlights.

Yes, it’s possible!

Thanks to the interest and support of the River Montessori Charter School community, efforts are underway to research and develop a public Montessori adolescent program.  An authentic Montessori educational experience for adolescents provides a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum through hands-on lessons and active-experiences matched to the unique needs and characteristics of the adolescent.  Their work, study, and occupational projects provide meaning and purpose which empower students with the knowledge that they are capable and must take responsibility for themselves and understand that their activities, pursuits, and actions have a very real effect on their fellow students, teachers, home, and community.  Students emerge from a Montessori High School with academic knowledge, and soft skills for life such as personal discipline and awareness, global perspective, problem solving strategies, time management, and leadership skills, and an enthusiasm for one’s future in a peaceful world.
