A Free & Public Montessori Junior & Senior High School?

December 2019 Update:

Dear Friends Interested in a Montessori Adolescent Program,

We had hoped to launch a Montessori Adolescent Program Fall of 2019 - unfortunately, this has not happened.

While it is still our vision to open an adolescent program, the process has been delayed.  Please view continue reading below...the RMCS Jr./Sr. High team has done some exciting work and you can see what they've been up to, as well as the many exciting things that are happening with Montessori adolescents around the world.

Yes, it’s possible!

Thanks to the interest and support of the River Montessori Charter School community, efforts are underway to research and develop a public Montessori adolescent program.  An authentic Montessori educational experience for adolescents provides a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum through hands-on lessons and active-experiences matched to the unique needs and characteristics of the adolescent.  Their work, study, and occupational projects provide meaning and purpose which empower students with the knowledge that they are capable and must take responsibility for themselves and understand that their activities, pursuits, and actions have a very real effect on their fellow students, teachers, home, and community.  Students emerge from a Montessori High School with academic knowledge, and soft skills for life such as personal discipline and awareness, global perspective, problem solving strategies, time management, and leadership skills, and an enthusiasm for one’s future in a peaceful world.
