Everyday Practices

Attendance Guidelines

All Students are expected to attend school every day and to arrive on time by 8:15.  Regular attendance is essential for your child’s development and ensures they receive the greatest benefit from their experience at RMCS.  As a public school, RMCS administration is required to submit detailed attendance data to the State of California, and to track tardiness as a component of student attendance records.  Parents are strongly encouraged to schedule health and dental appointments on Friday afternoons, our early release day.  In the event that a child must leave school mid-day, please contact your child’s guide in advance so that they may be prepared to dismiss your child early.

To report your child absent:  call (707) 778-6414 ext. 10

To request an Independent Study for your child's absence:
                  1) email your classroom guide and  2) include admin@rivermontessoricharter.org in your communication

Tardy Arrival:  Should your child arrive after school begins at 8:15, please sign them in with school office staff.  Your child will be issued a slip to join their classes.

Late Pick-Up:   The dismissal window concludes at 3:15 (Monday through Thursday, and 12:15 Friday).  Children who have not been picked up will be signed-in to River Crew. Charges for aftercare will be incurred.

Dismissal:  Students with written parental permission to sign themselves out from school will be released Monday through Thursday at 3:15 p.m. and Friday at 12:15 p.m. in order to ensure their safety.

Nut Free/Sesame Free School

River is a nut free and sesame free environment.  There are children enrolled at RMCS with life-threatening allergies.  Please support us in providing a safe and healthy environment for all of the children at RMCS and do not send snacks or lunch items to school containing nuts or sesames.

Emergency Preparedness

River conducts monthly emergency drills throughout the school year so that students and staff are prepared in the event of an emergency.  Another important component of emergency preparedness at school is ensuring that each child has a small emergency kit.  Click here for specifics.
