Be smart.
On-time, daily attendance benefits students’ social, emotional, cognitive development, and success in school.
Being present for all social-emotional collaborative opportunities encourages growth in all areas of development, facilitates the authentic self and helps children reach their full potential.
Not surprisingly, punctuality also significantly affects how children feel about school. Children who are consistently present are more likely to be self-motivated and connected to friends, their teachers and their work. Conversely, children who arrive late are unnecessarily burdened with the discomfort that comes from entering an already established group. For these children, this poses social and academic challenges, and they may not feel as if they belong in the same way as children who are consistently a part of their school community.
Additionally, as an independent charter school, absenteeism can drastically affect our budget. The funding that allows River Montessori to thrive is directly impacted by attendance.
